Market ends flat: Cement, metal, realty stocks gain

Markets saw a good turnaround after slipping deep in red in the noon trade and closed flat. Realty stocks hogged the limelight ahead of DLF numbers. Capital goods, FMCG and oil & gas stocks were among the top losers on the indices.

Market breadth was in favour of the declines and turnover was brisk.

DLF overtook ICICI Bank, Infosys in terms of market capitalisation. Reliance, ONGC, NTPC, Bharti, TCS are ahead of DLF in market cap.

ICICI Bk, Bharti, ACC, DLF, Zee News were among the gainers.

Cement, metal, realty and two wheelers saw buying interest on the bourses.

Sensex was up 11.35 points or 0.07% at 15301.17, and the Nifty up 2.80 points or 0.06% at 4499.55.

About 1107 shares have advanced, 1473 shares declined, and 75 shares are unchanged.

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 6,776.19 down 13 points or 0.20%.

The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 8,184.11 down 24 points or 0.29%.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was closed at 12,675.13 down 1%. Bharat Bijlee, Larsen, Alstom Projects, Reliance Infra, Areva T&D closed lower.

The BSE Auto Index closed closed at 5,051.90 up 0.7%. Bajaj Auto, Hero Honda, Cummins, Hind Motors, Apollo Tyres, Exide Industrie ended in the green.

The BSE Metal Index closed at 11,948.44 up 0.7%. Hindalco, Sterlite Ind, SAIL, Jindal Saw advanced.

The BSE FMCG Index lost 0.6% at 1,835.66. Tata Tea, Dabur India, Marico, ITC, Bata India ended in red.

BSE Oil and Gas Index closed at 7,937.15 down 0.6%. ONGC, Reliance Petro, Essar Oil, IOC closed in red.

The BSE IT Index gained 0.11% at 4,885.34. Infosys, TCS, Financial Tech closed higher.

The BSE Bankex was up 0.2% at 8,371.91. Kotak Mahindra, Oriental Bank, Andhra Bank, Allahabad Bank closed higher.

BSE Realty index was up 1.6%. DLF, Akruti Nirman, Mahindra Gesco, Sobha Developer, Peninsula Land were the top gainers

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 11300.64 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 45052.64 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 5722.37crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 62075.65crore.
