Background: Shriram Transport Finance Company
Ltd. (STFCL) is a market leader in pre-owned
commercial vehicles financing. It is a Chennai-based
company, which was formed in 1979 by three
entrepreneurs, Mr R Thyagrajan, Mr A V S Raja and
Mr T Jayaraman. Over the past few years, it has carved
a niche for itself by increasing its focus on institutional
funding rather than high cost retail funding. Further,
it has restructured its business by merging two of its
group companies.
