Cement scrips dominate gainers in 'A' group on BSE

India Cements, ACC, Ambuja Cements, Alstom Projects and IndusInd Bank were top five gainers from A group shares on BSE today.
India Cement soared 10.62% to Rs 206.20 and it was the top gainer from BSE's A group shares. ACC spurted 8.33% to Rs 898.90 and came second among top gainers. Ambuja Cements surged 7.43% to Rs 125.10 and stood at the third position in the BSE’s top gainers list.
These three cement stocks and a host of other cement scrips rallied on renewed buying today after Finance Minister P Chidambaram told a television news channel after market hours on Wednesday, 27 June 2007, that there was no freeze on cement price and the government has not tried to control cement prices. He also said that the prices had gone up by a few rupees in south India.
Alstom Projects jumped 5.08% to Rs 814.70 and stood fourth among top gainers in A group. On 14 June 2007, Alstom Projects India won a contract worth approximately Rs 1000 crore from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation for the construction of the first Alstom GT26-based combined cycle power plant in India.
IndusInd Bank rose 5.03% to Rs 54.25 and came fifth among top gainers in A group. On Monday, 25 June 2007, the bank had got a $50-million line of credit from US-based Wachovia Bank N.A. to expand its international business. The bank has an approval from its board to raise up to Rs 400 crore through debt this fiscal year, which began on 1 April 2007.
