FIIs continue sales in equities

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 28.90 crore on Monday 18 June 2007. They had sold shares worth Rs 13 crore on 15 June 2007.

The net FII outflow of Rs 28.90 crore on 18 June 2007 was a result of gross purchases Rs 1587.50 crore and gross sales Rs 1616.40 crore. The 30-share BSE Sensex lost 82.57 points or 0.58% at 14,080.14 on that day.

FII purchases by the first few days this month (till 18 June 2007) totaled Rs 101.30 crore.

FII inflow totaled Rs 3959.70 crore in May 2007. The inflow was much higher at Rs 6679.20 crore in April 2007.

FII inflow for the calendar year 2007 stands at Rs 17390.10 crore, till 18 June 2007. There are a total of 1044 FIIs registered with Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
