GNFC leads gainers in 'A' group

Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company (GNFC) soared 5.50% to Rs 137.15 and topped gainers in BSE's ‘A’ group shares. GNFC’s net profit rose 61.03% to Rs 75.79 crore in Q1 June 2007 (Rs 47.05). Total income jumped 32.71% to Rs 578.88 crore in Q1 June 2007 (Rs 436.18 crore). The company declared the results on 14 July 2007.
Mastek rose 3.91% to Rs 343.05 and stood second among top gainers in ‘A’ group. On Monday, 16 July 2007, Mastek acquired 90% stake in US-based Vector Insurance Services LLC, a technology solutions provider and third party administrator that focuses on the North American life and annuity insurance industry. The acquisition is being funded through internal accruals.
Nicholas Piramal flared up 3.47% to Rs 293.85 and came third among top gainers in ‘A’ group.
HCL Technologies went up 3.15% to Rs 336.90 and stood fourth among top gainers in ‘A’ group. On 11 July 2007, the company declared the opening of an offshore development centre in Chennai dedicated to Konica Minolta (KM) group to provide software services for KM's multi function peripherals (MFPs), printers and medical equipment business lines.
The software services provided by HCL will support the Japanese language to communicate accurately with KM's researchers. The contract is of three years' duration and extendable thereafter every year in which the five business companies of KM will outsource product engineering work to the company.
