Asian markets rebound following strong US markets closing

Asian markets rebounded early today, inspired by a strong overnight recovery on Wall Street, as bargain buying lifted financial stocks such as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Mizuho Financial Group in Japan. Japan's Nikkei was up 0.12% or 20.62 points at 16,935.08.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.84% or 184.62 points at 22,121.35. Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted rose 0.61% or 54.21 points at 8,995.94. Singapore's Straits Times advanced 0.92% or 30.43 points at 3,339.42. South Korea's Seoul Composite surged 0.63% or 11.68 points at 1,866.73.
