Asian indices decline tracking weak US markets

Asian indices declined today after wavering around the previous session's closing levels during early trading. Financial shares paced losses after US stocks declined overnight, with Sompo Japan Insurance and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group leading the decline in Japan.

Japan's Nikkei was down 0.02% or 2.57 points at 16,797.48. Singapore's Straits Times slipped 0.08% or 2.56 points at 3,378.05. South Korea's Seoul Composite declined 0.62% or 11.48 points at 1,837.78. Hong Kong's Hang Seng plunged 0.13% or 27.81 points at 21,863.29. However, Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted gained 0.62% or 55.17 points at 8,994.13.
