DishTV launches PC, TV compatible set top box

Leading DTH provider DishTV today introduced a new set top box, through which people could watch television programmes on their desktop computers.
Launching the set top box, Krishna Kumar, deputy vice president, sales, DishTV, said that subscribers could alter between computer and live TV by merely pushing a button in the remote control to operate the set top boxes.
The set top boxes were compatible for television sets and computers, he said.
The cost of the box was fixed at Rs 4150 and it would be available at Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad initially. It would be made available throughout the country in a phased manner, he said.
DishTV now had a customer base of 2.2 million in the country and had targetted to increase it to 10 million by 2015, he said.
