Neyveli Lignite Corporation leads gainers in 'A' groups

Lignite mining and power company Neyveli Lignite Corporation jumped 9.45% to Rs 92.70 and it topped the gainers in the BSE’s A group shares. The company plans to expand its mining capacity to 61.9 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) from 24 million mtpa. It also plans to expand its power generation capacity to 11,990 mega watta (MW) from from 2490 MW.

State-run Indian Overseas Bank jumped 7.22% to Rs 138.15. It was the second biggest gainer in the A group. The bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with rating company ICRA to rate bank’s loans as per the standardized approach of the Reserve Bank of India's new capital adequacy framework for Basel II.

Mid-cap public-sector lender Vijaya Bank moved up 6.54% to Rs 61.10 and secured third position among top gainers in the A group.

India's largest sponge iron manufacturer by sales Jindal Steel & Power flared up 4.80% to Rs 4147.05. It was the fourth biggest gainer in the A group. Reportedly, the Bolivian parliament had approved its joint venture with Jindal Steel & Power to develop iron ore mines and set up a steel plant in the country.

Tata Chemicals, which makes inorganic chemicals and fertilisers in India, rose 4.19% to Rs 261.25. It was the fifth biggest gainer in A group.
