LIC Housing Finance leads gainers in ‘A’ group

LIC Housing Finance jumped 31.42% to Rs 360.30 and it was the top gainer among the BSE 'A' group stocks. The stock has witnessed sustained buying after the company reported strong results for the Q2 September 2007 on 22 October 2007. LIC Housing Finance’s net profit rose 53.25% to Rs 116.37 crore on 36.84% rise in total income to Rs 526.58 crore in Q2 September 2007 over Q2 September 2006.
Jindal Saw stood occupied second spot among top gainers in A group, advancing 19.99% to Rs 738.50. It posted to 89.10% rise in net profit to Rs 90.07 crore on 27.20% rise in net sales to Rs 1428.61 crore in Q2 September 2007 over Q2 September 2006. The results were announced on Saturday, 27 October 2007.
Siemens soared 12.17% to Rs 1935.40, and was the third best performer among the BSE ‘A’ group stocks. Earlier last week, it bagged Rs 330 crore order from Tata Steel.
Engineers India surged 11.95% to Rs 813.15, and was the fourth best performer among ‘A’ group stocks
Gujarat Gas Company, a subsidiary of BG Group Plc, ranked firth best performer among ‘A’ group stocks. It gained 10.69% to Rs 339.05. Its net profit rose 82.8% to Rs 33.92 crore on 35% rise in sales to Rs 275.68 crore in Q3 September 2007 over Q3 September 2006. The company announced the results after the market hours on 24 October 2007.
The BSE Sensex surged 734.50 points, or 3.82%, to 19,977.67, an all-time closing high. It struck all-time high of 20,024.87 in late trade today. The market surged today on expectations the US Federal Reserve would cut interest rates this week and ease monetary policy further in the coming months.
