Shipping Corporation of India leads gainers in 'A' group

Shipping services provider Shipping Corporation of India soared 16.49% to Rs 246.55 and it topped the gainers in the BSE’s A group shares.

Metal stocks dominated the gainers chart in A group on expectations of strong Q2 results. The BSE metal index gained 1,358.74 points or nearly 9% to 16,200.18.

Steel Authority of India (Sail), which is India’s largest steel producing firm by sales, spurted 15.41% to Rs 258.75. It was the second biggest gainer in A group.

Sterlite Industries, which is India’s largest manufacturer of copper alloy products, flared up 14.37% to Rs 931.20. It was the third biggest gainer in A group.

Power utility firm Reliance Energy jumped 12.90% to Rs 1,847.35 and it stood fourth among the top gainers in A group.

JSW Steel, which is India’s third largest steel maker by sales, rose 12.05% to Rs 991.35. It was the fifth biggest gainer in A group.
