FIIs net sell in equity $ 265.8 Mn; U.S. mkts dn due to mortgage worries; Asian mkts slipped on US growth concerns

On Nov 20, FIIs net sell in equity were $ 265.8 million while net buy by the MFs in equity were Rs 138 crore. NSE F&O OI was down Rs 2189 crore at Rs 1,05,812 crore.

On global front, U.S. markets faces selling pressure on mortgage worries. S&P 500 Index YTD return turns negative after yesterdays fall. Dow Jones was down 211 points at 12799 while Nasdaq was down 34.7 points at 2562.15. Lowest closing for Dow was seen since Apr 17, trading below 200-DMA. U.S. markets shut today for Thanksgiving holiday; will close early on Friday. Financial sector (-2.2%) finished the day as the main laggard. U.S. 10-year note yield falls below 4% for 1st time since 2005. CBOE Volatility Index was up 7.9% at 26.84.

In Asia, Asian stocks slipped on US growth concerns, Nikkei 20% off 2007 high. In emerging markets, Brazil was down 2.8%, Russia was down 1.3% and Chile as down 1.37%. Yen trades near 2-year high Vs dollar, up almost 1% at 108.54/$. Crude oil is near $ 97/bbl after falling from record high on U.S. stockpile gain. Crude oil slipped after hitting new all-time high of $ 99.29/bbl.
