Jindal Steel & Power jumped 12% to Rs 3707, becoming top gainer in ‘A’ group on BSE.

On 21 May 2007, Jindal Steel & Power, reported 34.59% growth in net profit to Rs 202.77 crore in Q4 March 2007 from Rs 150.66 crore in Q4 March 2006. Sales jumped 56.48% to Rs 1053.92 crore in Q4 March 2007 from Rs 673.52 crore in Q4 March 2006.

The net profit rose 22.70% to Rs 702.99 crore in FY 2007 from Rs 572.94 crore in FY 2006. Sales moved up 35.89% to Rs 3519.81 crore in FY 2007 as against Rs 2590.25 crore in FY 2006.

Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) jumped 6.20% to Rs 42.80 and stood second among top gainers in ‘A’ group. Its net profit declined 58.22% to Rs 33.31 crore in Q4 March 2007 (Rs 79.72 crore). Sales rose 9.97% to Rs 912.70 crore in Q4 March 2007 (Rs 829.96 crore).

RCF’s net profit rose 0.53% to Rs 148.74 crore in FY 2007 (Rs 147.96 crore). Sales rose 14.48% to Rs 3487.99 crore in FY 2007 (Rs 3046.83 crore). The results were announced on 7 May 2007

State run Vijaya Bank flared up 5.1% to Rs 48.40. It was the third top gainer from BSE's A group. On 26 May 2007, the state run bank signed a memorandum of understanding with CRISIL for credit rating of micro, small and medium borrowers of the bank. Rated borrowers would be able to negotiate better credit terms with the bank. Vijaya Bank said that while ratings were not mandatory, it would encourage them in view of migration to the new capital adequacy norms of Basel-II.

Union Bank gained 5.04% to Rs 127.20. It was the fourth biggest gainer in A group. Last month, this state run bank opened its first overseas representative office in Shanghai . The bank has also received an RBI approval for opening branches at Hong Kong and Doha and representative offices at Beijing and Guangdong in China and the UAE.

Century Enka rose 4.93% to Rs 145.75. It was the firth biggest gainer in A group on BSE. Its net profit declined 62.30% to Rs 1.38 crore in Q4 March 2007 (Rs 3.66 crore). Sales declined 4.06% to Rs 244.13 crore in Q4 March 2007 (Rs 254.45 crore).

The net profit declined 4.95% to Rs 16.72 crore in FY 2007 (Rs 17.59 crore). Sales declined 1.05% to Rs 980.73 crore in FY 2007 (Rs 991.12 crore). The results were announced on 3 May 2007.
