Sensex up at 16845; Nifty up at 4932

On Monday, markets closed at all-time high. Sensex, Nifty and CNX Midcap indices closed up. Sensex closed above 16800, ended 1.7% higher at 16846 while Nifty closed above 4900, up 1.96% at 4932.20. CNX Midcap was up 1.18% and BSE Small Cap was up 0.77%. Oil & Gas and Power stocks lead the rally and BSE Oil and Gas was up 3.3%. RIL, REL, RPL, RNRL and Reliance Infra closed at new all-time highs. Rate sensitivesed the rally. BSE Bank, realty & auto indices ended up by over 2% each. BSE IT Index was down 1.8%.

In currency market, Rupee hits new 9-year high of 39.75/$. Market turnover was at all-time high of Rs 1.06 lakh crore while Stock futures turnover was at all-time high of Rs 52,187 crore.

In derivative market, total F&O turnover was of Rs 75,928 crore vs Rs 58,327 crore yesterday. Market wide rollover was at 33.6% and Nifty rollover was at 30%. Nifty September ended at premium of 31 points, added 24.8 lakh shares in OI. Nifty October ended at a 15-point discount, added 39.4 lakh shares in OI.
