Neyveli Lignite leads gainers in 'A' group

Cummins India, Arvind Mills, Sterling Biotech, Jindal Steel are among the other gainers.
Neyveli Lignite surged 17.09% to Rs 78.45 and topped the gainers in ‘A’ group. The stock rose on the eve of its Q1 June 2007 results which are due tomorrow, 20 July 2007.
On 3 July 2007, the company said it entered into a joint venture with Mahanadhi Coal Fields (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India and Hindalco Industries for developing and mining Talabira II & III coal blocks. The company holds 15% in the above joint venture project.
Cummins India spurted 7.19% to 377.90 and stood second among top gainers in ‘A’ group. The company’s net profit soared 37.76% to Rs 242.05 crore in the year ending March 2007 over the year ended March 2006. Sales flared up 25.84% to Rs 1840.78 crore. It declared results on 31 may 2007.
Arvind Mills gained 6.66% to Rs 51.25 and came third among gainers in ‘A’ group. As per recent media reports, Reliance Retail is in talks with the company for its Santej land in Ahmedabad. Arvind holds almost 750 acres of land at Santej, located just 20 kilo metre away from Ahmedabad city.
Sterling Biotech jumped 5.15% to Rs 188 and stood fourth among top gainers in ‘A’ group.
Jindal Steel and Power rose 5.11% to Rs 4025 and came fifth among top gainers in ‘A’ group. Jindal Steel and Power has signed a contract with the Bolivian government to exploit the vast El Mutun iron ore deposits in the region. The deal sets out an investment of $2.1 billion to mine iron ore and make steel at the site in eastern Bolivia.
Jindal Steel and Power's net profit rose 22.70% to Rs 702.99 crore in year ended March 2007 over year ended March 2006. Sales moved up 35.89% to Rs 3519.81 crore in year ended March 2007. The company declared the FY 2007 results on 21 May 2007.
